Lots o’ updates
It’s been so long since we’ve updated our website! The holidays came and went and now we’re in February! I have no excuse! Here are a few updates since our last post, in no particular order:
1. Had two cookie exchanges at our house in the month of December….fun times and delicious cookies. Several new recipes to add to my book!
2. The kids and I tried to make the trip up to Chicago for Mike’s MBA spouse luncheon…packed the car, dropped Oliver at the kennel, and then saw 3 cars spin out and land in the ditch on I65. Called Mike and Karen to say, “we’re turning around!” We came home and made a gingerbread house!
3. Christmas Tree decorating afternoon at my mom and dad’s house….Santa came for a visit this year and was a big hit with the grandkids! He even sang to them - insert here - retired music teacher trying to make some christmas cash by going to parties as Santa. Adorable!!!
4. Maggie had her 15 month check up - all is great - 30 % for height and weight; 97% for head!
5. Sam had his third dentist appointment. We went really excited; little did I know, this age hates the dentist.
6. The Bears didn’t make the playoffs. Don’t mention football again until August.
7. Annual Bonge’s dinner with great friends - amazing night!
8. I made probably about 15 dozen cookies and about 10 loaves of bread for the holidays. Yes, we love to bake around here!
9. Sam had his totally cute Christmas program at school. He loves to sing…but was a little shy in front of the “audience!”
10. Took 3 total hours spilt between two nights to put the kitchen together that Santa brought the kids. Mike commented about 4 times that he could have written the instructions better…yeh…right honey…..
11. Dinner date night with my two best friends and their husbands….we rocked out that night - how old are we?!?! We realized we had NEVER been out, just the six of us, without kids…EVER. Is that possible?? So fun, and we’ll so do it again!
12. Had a wonderful Christmas Eve and morning…the expression on the kids faces made our year.
13. Celebrated New Year’s Eve with our friends Rachel and Conrad with their two girls Bella and Sopie…we rang in the New Year in our PJ’s playing Wii. Didn’t everyone do that?
14. Mike started his last quarter of school! Yippee!
15. Mike’s family came to celebrate Christmas in January. So fun to see family!! We miss them!
16. Record breaking snowfall brought a smile to Sam’s face…but not to Maggie! Sam loves to throw snow in her face!
17. Did I already mention it’s Mike’s last quarter of school?
18. Sam loves to count with his fingers.
19. Sam and his good friend Jack, went to the Monster Truck Jam downtown. Stayed out until midnight with daddy….
20. Both kids have been sick twice….but all on the mend now!
21. Maggie has all four eye teeth coming in…bring on the Motrin.
22. I turned a very uneventful 33 years of age.
23. Maggie is now running and is non-stop talking!!!
24. Mike was pumped to use our snow-blower for the first time this winter!
25. Sam, most days, insists to be called “Bill.” And he calls us “Steve” and “Cracker Jack.”
26. Maggie, while out eating sushi, confused the soy sauce bottle for her sippee cup. Probably won’t make that mistake again.
27. Maggie loves to accessorize. Hats, purses, necklaces (usually rosaries), coats, socks (most times on her hands as sock puppets), etc. - you name it - she loves to wear it - all at the same time. No kidding.
28. The other day, Sam tried on a pair of my sunglasses and said, “Dude, do I look good?”
SO, there you have it. We’re getting older and growing up around here. Loving life in 2009….happy new year to everyone!
Schlitz is making a comeback
So, I about tripped over my own feet at Kroger a couple months back when I saw they had started carrying Old Style. Outside of Wrigleyville, Old Style is hard to find. So I found it funny when I saw this article today. Now, if I could only get PBR in Indianapolis… a man can dream.
Mo-Mo or is it Moo-Moo?
Some days Sam calls Maggie Mo-Mo, and other days it’s Moo-Moo…either one, we think it’s great! It’s more often Mo-Mo, (or is that “El-mo?”) so we’ll stick with that. Either way, Maggie is growing so big! Here are some new pictures.

Getting Ready
The night before baby #2 arrives…..hmmmm….We had a great evening with our little Sam. He was in such a good mood - running around, giggling, yelling, and barking like a dog! We realized it was our last night with him for three nights! He’s staying with Grandma and Grampy for one night and Nini and Papa for two nights. He’ll have a blast with all of them! Sam will come to the hospital on Saturday morning to see the new baby. It’s Mike’s birthday on Saturday, so it should be a fun day for everyone!
We’re taking last minute bets on the sex…but even though I dreamt it was a blond hair, blue eyed little girl, hands down, it’s a TOTAL BOY! Mike thinks it’s a boy, I think it’s a boy…basically, everyone thinks it’s a boy, except my brother Jeff. So we’ll see…and for those of you who still don’t believe we don’t have names, we really, really don’t have names yet! We’re not worried about it…we have to meet the little person first to decide! And to the social security/birth certificate lady in the hospital…Sam wasn’t named for 72 hours, so don’t plan on this one being named any sooner!

Happy 1st Birthday to me!!
Hi everyone! It’s my birthday! Today I turned one year old…and it was a great day! All of my extended family, including my five cousins and Grandma and Grampy from Tennessee, came to help celebrate today! I was in such a good mood after my morning nap when everyone showed up for lunch. We laughed, played, and Daddy drank lots of wine!

I even had my own birthday cake! Mommy and Daddy blew out my candle, everyone sang the birthday song (Mommy started singing it to me last week, so I remembered the words), and then we all dove in. I hadn’t really seen a cake that big before, so it scared me a little. The frosting was yummy, but I don’t like to get my hands dirty…so, Daddy helped: he smeared it all over my forehad and nose. Soon after that, Mommy cleaned me up!

I’m a big boy now - Daddy gave me my very own log-in ID to our website…this is my first blog! Oh…and…Mommy and Daddy told me I’m going to be a big brother in September!! All in all, it was a great day! Thanks for reading the previous blogs all about my first year…Mommy and Daddy have had a lot of fun with our website!

Make Super Bowl Plans Now!
Wow, what a game. We made two signs for the Bears-Cardinals game in Arizona, but they only let us bring this one in. How prescient were we when we made this sign? (in the parking lot drinking beers with 1000 of our closest Bears friends…) I still cannot believe we weren’t on MNF that night. I’m pretty sure I showed the sign to all 70,000 people in attendance at one point or another. Maybe I should have taken my shirt off.
SAHM
I have been having so much fun with Sam during the day, now that I’ve been home a little more. Sam is eating great and gaining weight, feeling great, and getting on a regular schedule. He had ear tube surgery last week and is doing awesome. Hopefully, that will be the end of his ear infections! He’s a great grocery shopping buddy and loves watching people when we run other errands. And, as you can see, he loves to help cook and clean!

Kissin’ cousins
Mike’s entire family…sisters, brother-in-law, nephew, mom, dad, grandma and her boyfriend, Frank, came a couple weekends ago to celebrate Christmas. We had a great weekend of fun, food, presents, and more food! Our almost 2-year-old nephew Gage, loved playing with Sam…they were so much fun together…just wait until a couple more years! We asked Gage to give Sam a little kiss…he did, and then they kept on hugging and kissing eachother! It was really sweet! Then, Uncle Dana and Mike put it to a stop!

Mama-shi and Grampy had a great time with their grandkids…playing and reading all weekend. It was nice that we could all be together for such a nice weekend.

We exchanged presents - Sam loved it! I swear, he knew just what to do when given a little present. He loved playing with his new toys and books.

Aunt Lisa and Aunt Nicole had a great time with the kids too.

All in all, it was a great weekend had by all. I think we’ll make it a tradition!
Everyone is feeling better at our house
After about 2 weeks of not feeling well, Sam having an ear infection, Mike sneezing and even Oliver with a runny nose, I think we’re back on the mend! Nothing beats having a summer cold. But we heard it was going around - we must have had the worst of it! Sam slept through the night last night…keeping our fingers crossed for another great night. Thanks to Nini and Papa for watching Sam while we were working this week.
We’re excited for a nice weekend; hopefully Sam will feel up to going to his first Italian Festival - a favorite of ours downtown. He won’t be having meatballs this year, but I bet daddy will eat enough for all of us! I’ll take care of the Tiramisu part.
Here are a few pictures when Sam turned 3 months - we can’t believe it!

3500+ hits and counting
We had 3500+ hits on the web site in the first month of Sam’s life. I didn’t really have any expectations of who or how many people would come to the site, but I guess to me that sounds like a lot. A little more than half of that was the day he was born and the day after. Somebody said I should be selling advertising space on the site. Haha, that’s funny. Well actually that IS a good idea, as I could use a steady source of income these days…
